Commenting on the report of the BBC for the disabled Care Centers: A word in order to alleviate the suffering, featured in the leading Jordanian newspaper Al-Rai on 25 May 2012. In this article Dr. Costa commends the initiative by King Abdallah of Jordan to visit centers that offer services to individuals with special needs and ask for an investigation to end all kinds of abuse against persons with disability, and this following a report that was broadcast on BBC Arabic highlighting maltreatment and abuse at the hands of care takers in these centers (http://www.bbc.co.uk/arabic/multimedia/2012/05/120515_wall_silence_jordan.shtml). At the same time, through this article, Dr. Costa recommend an action plan to establish a culture that respects rights and needs of individuals with learning differences and special needs in the Arab region.
